we took these photos at City School when it was in bloom last year, and i just love them.
when i was editing the images from this session, this one stopped me in my tracks. it was the moment i realized that i had grown from a self-taught, floundering photographer who used editing as a crutch to a real artist who knows what she's doing and doesn't have to rely on editing to fix her mistakes. i barely did anything to this image after i took it, and i didn't need to. and this image changed my workflow to one based on simplicity and fundamentals. i hope you guys agree it was a good move.
i met this little darling and her wonderful parents at the mueller greenbelt one day for a session. i think she was coming down with something, but no matter the reason, she didn't smile for me even once. despite that, i think these photos are beautiful. also, her mama brought her in to the studio the next week, and we did get some smiles that time. still, though, these are my favorites from the whole session.
